The Birds Visit Government Camp

From Government Camp on Mt. Hood, our rest area supervisor John Garmon reports the following:

“We had a visit today from a longtime rest area user and 72 of his friends! Don Moore is a member of the Fort Vancouver Racing Pigeon Club.

Club members have been using the Government Camp Rest Area for years as one of their practice start lines. They’ve been preparing for a larger release from Tygh Valley and Condon, when hundreds of birds will race back to Vancouver. Today, the birds flew into open blue skies with barely a look back at Don.”
