Stakeholders and public invited to participate in session

On Monday, November 19, 2012, at 9:00 a.m., a candidate forum for OTE’s new CEO position will take place.  It will be held in the OTE conference room, 1500 Liberty St SE, Suite 150, Salem, 97302. OTE’s interested parties and the public are welcome to attend.  If you are unable to attend in person, but would still like to participate, call 1-888-431-3632 and enter code 7286336.

At the forum, the final two candidates will have up to ten minutes to introduce themselves and then respond to 30 minutes of questions. The facilitator will collect questions from the audience in advance via email or in person prior to the start of the event.  If you would like to email questions in advance, please send them to Jennifer.Rogers@state.or.us by November 16, 2012.

We recommend you think about one or two attributes or characteristics that are important to you in this position, and write a question or two around those attributes.

The facilitator will lead the session and ask questions on behalf of the audience.  At the end of the session, you will have the opportunity to provide us with feedback regarding the candidate’s strengths and weaknesses, in written format via a confidential, electronic survey.  Please complete the survey no later than 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 19, 2012.  The information will then be compiled and provided to the Oregon Travel Information Council prior to the Council meeting the following day, November 20, 2012, so they may have your input prior to making the final decision.  A link to the survey will be provided after the start of the session on the OTE website.  If necessary, you may also complete a paper survey.  If so, please let the facilitator know sometime prior to the conclusion of the forums.

If you have any questions about the forum, please contact  Jennifer Rogers via email or telephone 503-378-8257.

On November 16, 2012, the names of the final two candidates will be released by Oregon Department of Administrative Recruitment Office and posted to the OTE website along with candidate resumes.

How and by whom were the two finalists chosen?

George, Thanks for the question. The applicants were scored and vetted initially by the Oregon Department of Administrative Services. The next step was for the Oregon Travel Information Council to appoint two members of the Council, and for the OTE staff to appoint one employee to sit on a DAS approved review and interview team. The final candidates were selected by this review panel, the results passed to the Council, a group forum scheduled, and finally, an Executive Session where the finalists will be interviewed by the full Council. It was a long vetting process, and we’re happy to announce the two finalists today.
