Oregon heritage attracts travelers who spend money in Oregon Communities

Abigail Scott Duniway historical markerThe 2012 Oregon Heritage Commission Report proves that in communities where Oregon history and culture is spotlighted, nearly 60 percent more than the national average is spent by cultural historical visitors. Oregon’s historical experiences are proved to be important factors in attracting visitors to our state.

OTE supports this statewide economic prosperity through its administration of the Historical Marker and Heritage Tree Programs. Community and professional volunteers continue to drive forward new nominations for both trees and markers, and note the increased traffic to their smaller communities as one of the major benefits.
