Safety enhancements for travelers
With spring-temperatures soaring, OTE rest area employees are busy nearing completion on a project in sunny Southern Oregon. Suncrest Rest Area is located on I-5 at Milepost 22, south of Medford. Several decades of harsh weather had taken its toll on a pedestrian walkway and island between the truck parking area and the restrooms. Alone on the island, the Blue Star Memorial was isolated and surrounded by dirt.
The Suncrest team provided us with an image diary that documents the improvements they made. The crew leveled uneven ground, filled holes, and prepared the large pedestrian island for a new walking path, and created a clear space for the memorial plaque. Over the next few weeks and months, groups of plants will be added to provide a clean and welcoming space for Oregon’s travelers.
