Government Camp raises the roof

Government Camp Rest Area is one of OTE’s most highly utilized rest stops. Snowboarders, hikers, sledders, skiers and Mt. Hood enthusiasts flock to the Hwy 26 stop in droves.

In order to withstand heavy snow drifts, the rest area’s small A-frame rest area building requires a massive amount of maintenance. As part of OTE’s responsibility to the public, a new roof is being installed over the next several days to ensure the building is “leak free” over the coming winter.

Government Camp Rest Area Supervisor John Garmon reports that although the building remains open during construction, several close-by parking spots may be cordoned off for safety.

The new roof is shaping up as you can see from the gallery below. (Mouse click on any image to increase size.)
