Whitman Mission National Historic Site

From Pendleton, follow Highway 11 north to Walla Walla, Washington, then drive six miles west on Highway 12.

Protestant Missionaries Marcus and Narcissa Whitman founded this mission in 1836. The National Park Service interprets the Whitman Mission today, where the Whitmans provided religious instruction to the nearby Indians, and supplies and aid to travelers on the Oregon Trail.
