A family business leaps into action

Don and Linda’s family owned business is located in Hillsboro, on busy Century Boulevard. The Milford’s established Out of This World Pizza and Play four years ago. Don Milford says that part of the impetus behind starting the business was so the couple’s three young children would have a place to actively entertain themselves in.

“Our focus is on family entertainment,” said Milford. “The entire play area is designed to keep kids moving and in motion. Nothing is sedentary.”

Out of This World features 23 separate play structures and one of them is billed as the tallest and largest in Oregon. There’s even an open wave slide, obstacles and punching bags. The popular play arena has a single low-cost entry fee for all activities. “The kids just bounce from one play structure to another, and head for whatever has the most visual appeal at the moment,” said Milford.

Play activities and structures are categorized into age-appropriate groups, including several blow-up features where children can bounce and fall without hurting themselves or kids smaller than themselves. “We don’t want a situation where the larger kids are crashing into the younger five-year olds and hurting them,” said Milford. “So everything is organized by age.”

Worlds beyond pizza

And, for those with food allergies or sensitivities, Milford said there are gluten and dairy free options—in addition, he notes the entire facility is peanut-free.

Out of This World Pizza and Play offers a private dining room for family reunions, baby showers or birthday parties, with seating up to 110. On Friday nights, a magician visits table sides and performs magic tricks. Come Sunday evenings, customers are treated to live music.

If you are interested in a great family activity that keeps everyone on the move, Out of This World Pizza and Play is located at 6255 NW Century Blvd, Hillsboro, OR, 97124.
